Biology - still a field of miracles...

Progress in science played a major role in undermining man's belief in miracles. Sir Isaac Newton's deterministic world view that the universe is a finely tuned machine, forms the basis for the belief of the scientific community that using mathematical equations, one can describe the entire universe. But in the twentieth century, with the development of Quantum Mechanics and exotic theories like Chaos Theory, it is now accepted that there is an inherent uncertainty about the universe. This uncertainty limits our understanding of nature, giving rise to miracles.

But biology is a field which, mostly, has remained beyond the description of mathematics due to its complexity. Though the contribution of biology to the understanding of nature has been at its peak since the latter half of the last century, it is still a field full of miracles as it can be seen from these two articles.
